About Green Universe
Green Universe is an environmental organization dedicated to combating climate change through nature-based solutions. We develop high-value carbon removal projects that focus on restoring ecosystems, protecting biodiversity, and fostering sustainable development in vulnerable regions like Madagascar.
Our primary field operations are located in Madagascar, specifically focused on restoring thousands of hectares of degraded land. We operate globally with administrative offices in Switzerland.
Unlike many programs that simply buy credits, we manage our projects directly on the ground. We focus on “Carbon Removal” (physically taking CO2 out of the air through new growth) and prioritize biodiversity by planting endemic species rather than fast-growing monocultures.
Tree Adoption & Gifting
When you adopt a tree, you are funding the entire lifecycle of that tree: from the nursery and planting to long-term monitoring and protection. You aren’t just “buying” a tree; you are supporting a permanent restoration of the Madagascar landscape.
Yes! You can adopt a tree as a “Living Legacy.” During the checkout process, you can specify if it is a gift, and we will provide a digital certificate that you can send to your loved one to commemorate the contribution.
Environmental Impact
Transparency is a core value for us. We use advanced technology to track our planting sites and provide regular updates through our blog and reports. Every adopted tree contributes to a specific, monitored plot in our Madagascar project.
Madagascar is one of the world’s most important biodiversity hotspots, but it has lost over 90% of its original forest cover. By working here, we have a massive impact on both carbon sequestration and the survival of rare species that exist nowhere else on Earth.
We plant a diverse range of endemic and indigenous species. We prioritize biodiversity by planting a diverse range of endemic and indigenous species native to Madagascar. We categorize our reforestation efforts into two vital roles:
- The Guardians : The Guardians are the ancient protectors of the ecosystem. These massive, long-lived species like the Baobab and Rosewood serve as the backbone of the forest. They act as “Guardians” by providing massive carbon sequestration and creating stable, high-canopy habitats that protect Madagascar’s unique wildlife, such as lemurs and rare birds, from the elements.
- The Givers : The Givers are the species that provide life-sustaining resources for both nature and the local community. These trees, including Mango and Coconut, are “Givers” because they provide nutritious fruit and sustainable harvests for the Malagasy people. Alongside medicinal plants like Katrafay and the Madagascar Periwinkle, they restore soil quality and give back to the local economy, ensuring that reforestation supports human life as much as it does the earth.
Every tree has a purpose. Click here to adopt a Guardian or a Giver and start your reforestation journey today.
We believe environmental health and human well-being go hand-in-hand. Our projects create stable jobs for local Malagasy communities in our nurseries and planting sites, provide education on sustainable land use, and help build a greener economy for the region.
Technical & Corporate
We leverage advanced technology and scientific data to calculate the biomass growth and carbon storage capacity of our forests. This allows us to provide accurate data on the environmental impact our investors and donors are making.
We offer tailored solutions for businesses looking to address their carbon footprint or meet ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals. Please contact us at info@greenuniverse.eu for a consultation or to view our project presentations.
